MOOOOOOOOOORTAAAAAL COOOOOOOOOMMBAAAAAAAT !!!!!!!!

Battlebgrounds Posted by Hello

Its time for mortal combat. No fools not the game but the mortal sturgel of the Horde and the Alliance in the MMORPG World of Warcraft. I know I profesed my love for Everquest II a few weeks ago. While this game will always hold sway over my life in some form or another and I will, like Michel Corlione, allways be pulled back in by this games future forms I do play other mmo's. Right now the big one I am spending most of my time with is World of Warcraft or WoW. Battlegrounds is WoW's player verses player only combat areas. They curently have 2 such areas on epic 40 v 40 area for level 50-60 players. This area seems to me to be a immersive version or a player level version of their RTS Warcraft games. There are basses and tower with npc gaurds and will also some day have seige wepons for deployment agaist your riavals. I have not played this on yet for the simple reason of not having a lvl 50-60 character but I must say it is the drving force in reaching this lvl. I will however tell you that the samaller faster version of this game feature is Warsong Gultch. This is a classic capture the flag CTF map. Each side Horde and Alliance have there own starting base and then fight over control of the valley bassed on flag caps. I played this for the first time the other day and all I can say is wow. This has gone into my top 5 all time gaming moments and is #1 on my all time online gameing moments. I have played in alot of pvp and some larger scale pvp things but nothing that was orginized into purposeful pvp like this. It really gives the whole game of WoW a new depth that I have not seen in anyother mmo ever befor. This gives people the chance to compete against living thinking (maybe) people arond the world but then go back to simple questing and lvling for a diffrent kind of fun. I really feel this will help atract the people that are more of the hardcore first person shooter and rts fans out there that get most of their gaming rush from fighting against those live people.

Sharky McBitealot

Jaws Logo Posted by Hello

Hey check it out Jaws returns to the video game world. Who remembers the Nintendo game based on the Jaws video game. I remember trying to ram this shark head with your boat in between diving sessions. Well now it looks like you are given control of the great shark himself and allowed a GTA free roaming style of control to randomly eat people boats or even other people. I don't know about anyone else but when I first saw this I though huh I don't know if I really want anything to do with a video game based on a movie 20 some years old but that was when I was under the impresion that you were once again hunting this creature. Now that I know the truth I am worming to the idea. I do think that it will need a good story and game play or else eating people will get old fast.

This game is being made by the same people that brought you Ecco the Dolphin. My first thought was oh no Sweet little Ecco is being turned into Sharky McBitealot but really this was a great move for the developer of this game. I remember being in awe of some of the sea scapes presented by Ecco. They should be able to handle the visual depth needed to keep a person visually interested in this game.

I will say what I do every time a video game based off a movie comes out "hopefully this time they will get it right." I really don't know why this (and the reverse of this) is so hard but hey maybe this time they will get it right.

Elder Scrolls IV

Screen from Elder Scrolls IV Posted by Hello

This is a great screen form Elder Scrolls IV. Gamespot gave a shot review of a very short 10 second clip they got to see at a Microsoft pre E3 showing. I put this one up just to show off the amazing amount of lighting effects that all of the other screens that they had show case. This is right on par with the shading provided by some of the high end cards you can get for you PC. I my self have the PC express nVidea 6800 gt and get much the same effects form Doom 3 and EQ 2. It is great to see this level of detail coming to my console now as well. Game Spot along with many other sites has a great section on what they are tracking with E3 coming up tomorrow. Hopefully we will all get a large injection of info tomorrow as the greatest show on earth opens its doors for another year. I guess my biggest attraction this year will be the X Box 360. Microsoft has swelled its already well endowed stable to include much needed Japanese game studios. This I hope will add the sadly lacking traditional role playing games that were missing in the first X Box. I guess we will have to see. Go check out what game spot has to offer as far as shots and movies so great stuff for any rig you might own.

Evercrack

Now that the hello how ya doin stuff is over I wanted to write a post about a game. Huh a game why would a blog about games have a post about a game? Good question. Well not really thats what this site is about. The first game I want to talk to you about is the game that is currently consuming my life. By consuming I mean it is taking every thing I have not to be playing it right now. This game would be Everquest II. I thought I would make a link of those of you who are living in caves in the desert where no outside information at all can reach you. I have seen more media be it main stream or electronic entertainment media about this game and its predisesor than I have any game in history. Could this be because it has ended marriages caused failing grades in school and grown men to weep openly because they were killed so many times in the Plane of Hate that they lost multiple levels over it. Well I guess the main stream media may not know about all that but I promise this is one of the most influential games of our times. I know now there are many more alternatives to it such as World of Warcraft and Guild Wars but this is the dealer that brought the crack that UO was selling onto the main streets and away from only the hardcore D&D nerds.

I have play EQ for the better part of 5+ years now. I started shortly after the first one debuted and now have been playing 2 since launch. This has to be the most addicting game I have ever touched. The first one had me almost kissing the phone man when he put in the DSL line and now with the second one I find as much joy from the pc that I build special just for this Holy game. I still play with almost all of the lovable retards that I started this saga out with and I highly suggest to anyone thinking about starting this game to go to some of your friends and tell them they must play this game with you or else. It makes the entire thing much more enjoyable. I encourage almost anyone I meet that claims to be a pc gamer to run out and pick this game up but at the same time every time I see someone looking at it in the store and say “huh I have never tried this maybe I will pick it up” I feel a little sad. This is for two reasons. One I can NEVER have the feeling back that I did the first time I set foot in Norath and saw the wonderful place that would be my new fantasy home for the next 5 years (I know I know NEARD. Whatever). Second I know the amount of time this person will soon be losing with loved ones. It almost makes me want to grab the person and say RUN run now and never come back to this place and then I realize I would be arrested and put in the hospital if I did that. I will leave this post with a few great sites for EQ humor and news:

GU comics which is now one of the best all around gaming comics right up with Penny Arcade in my book. This guy started with exclusively Everquest related content check him out if you haven't yet and check out his archives.

Agro Me is the blog that got me to pick up the keyboard and put in my thoughts on the gaming world.

Enjoy the sites and check back again I will try and post daily as school and work permit.

Humble Beginings

Well here goes nothing. I am sure there are a million blogs, sites, and news groups that talk about games. I am also aware that most every angel has been taken on most every game site. While I do not want to duplicate what has been done I would just like to add my own revilations into this increasingly murky pool of information and missinformation.

That being said I will take a min to introduce myself and give some of my credentials as a gamer. My name is Shawn and I have been pationet about games sence the day my dad brought hom aIBM pc juinor sometime around 1985. If I have the date of the release of that inpaticualr pc then I am sorry I WAS 6. From that day forward I have lived games. I can recall selling 100 of my GI Joes at a garage sale to be able to buy an original NES after my parents messed up and bought me a SEGA Master System as a present. Sorry for you SEGA lovers out there at the time that had to be the lamest thing ever. I think tht was the first time I remember having to force an excited response. I have come to love SEGA now and respect the games that they have produced over the years but at the time I was the one kid that had a SEGA while all my friends had a NES and could trade games with one another. Anyway I have gotten off the topic. If anyone out there reads this and continues to read this they will find that I am very good at that. I have continued up the consol and pc ladder untill today playing almost anything I could get my hands on. I now am strong into MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) for the uneducated umong you. I also am going to school now as a computer programer/ game designer. I have the same dream I did when I was 6 and watched my dad make a chirtsmas tree decorating game on that IBM I want to create games.

Like I said this will be my experiances in game life and in real for how everlong it seams interesting to document it. I will have a much better post for any of you that find this blog out of the millions next time. Check back thanks.
